Everything You Need to Start Your Website

Learn Basic Legal Issues Surrounding Web Pages: Like everything else in life, there are legal issues you should be aware of when putting up Web pages. Copyright is the big one - don't copy other people's work without permission. But there are also issues of linking and protecting children online. If you take the time to learn the basic laws surrounding Web pages before you put one up, you won't be surprised later on.

What type of Website do you want? An Informational site is a site for information about your business or organization. An e-commerce site gives information about your business AND also generates income by selling products or services on the website. There are many other types of websites, click here for a list.

Domain Name: A domain name is the address (i.e. northcountrywebsitedesign.com) where your website will be found on the Web. The best domain name is one that uses the company's name in the URL. But sometimes that can be hard to get, if you haven't already registered it. If you can't get your company name, then consider something catchy or memorable that your customers can associate with you. Remember that it should be something that you like and can live with for a long time, as there's a possibility that people will start remembering your domain name before they remember your real company name. North Country Website Design can transfer your domain or create a new one. Click here for more information.

Webhosting: Deciding where you're going to put your website doesn't have to be your first step, but it should be on the top of your list. This location is called Web hosting and there are lots of options to choose from. If you've decided to hire North Country Website Design to work on your site, we prefer to use our web host (which is 1and1.com). Click here for more information.

But for bigger projects and beautiful website photographs, we rely on Modern Image to do our photography. Niki Schiavio of Modern Image works out of Crystal Falls, MI and has taken the beautiful pictures featured on many of our websites.
